MEU India was started in 2007 November. At that time, the number of participants was very low and it was a continuation of a FAIMER project I was working on titled ‘Electronic Classroom in Undergraduate Teaching’. It was made using a yahoo group, through various medical education conferences people joined it and many discussions took place in a large number of journal clubs. News about medical conferences and activities in medical science were discussed thus creating a network of medical educators, which went on expanding and expanding from 150 members in the beginning to 25,000 health professional teachers over the years. This led to the birth of a national mastermind, which is on its way to working collaboratively towards improving our medical education system and making possible the continuous dissemination of information and a bottom-up spiralling of ideas to the topmost.
